In a last minute change, Kane Astin replaced Rik Breukers at the wheel of the Red Camel-Jordans.nl SEAT León, as the young Dutchman is too busy racing in both the 24 hours and the 3x3 hours prototype races.
Astin, 41 years old from Cambridge, is an amateur driver who shares with his close friend Rob Huff a passion for Historical cars, especially the Mini. He started racing only in his thirties, but was able to win twice the British Mini challenges: the 2009 Mini 7 and the 2015 Mini Miglia. He’s not new to the SEAT León TCR that he drove last year in the 24 Hours of Dubai.
So far he has been able to complete a few laps in the second practice session: “We have had an issue with the power steering during the practice for the 24 hours,” he explained. In fact, the team is running the very same car in the long distance race.
